Our fathers carry half of our genetic makeup. Our relationship with our father plays a huge part of who we will become. In many segments of society, people grow up without ever knowing their fathers. This is unfortunate because fathers should play as important a role in raising their children as mothers. A father is the model of a man for his daughter and she will choose a man who is like him. A father is the model for his son as well. Fortunately, there is a trend for fathers to be more active in their children’s lives.
I Miss You Dad!

When I was a little girl,
I can still remember our happy moments we shared together.
People said that because ‘I’m the only girl in the family Aside from my mom
That I’m a spoiled brat, but I guess I’m not.
You’re my mentor, you thought me a lot of things in life, moral values,
Respect for elders, things that is useful to our everyday life.
As a Dad, you showed me of the how, the why, and the where,
No matter what has come about; you were always there.
That was spring of 2002 when I heard the news.
The doctor said you’re in pain, and there’s nothing they could do.
The result of your biopsy was you have cancer of the liver,
After I heard that, my world starts to shiver.
You talked to me and said you are dying,
My heart breaks when I heard you crying.
3 weeks later, you’ve left me.
That was so painful and the hardest thing to accept, for a grieving daughter that I am.
Years may come and go, but your memory will never be erased.
I once knew a man, who gave love at his best,
And no one can ever take your place. I miss you so much DAD!

You Were Always There
Whenever I needed someone to talk to
You were always there.
My eyes filled with tears, my heart filled with pain, and
You were always there.
There was no time when I had doubt
to come to you because
You were always there.
I could see in your eyes you wanted to help, and that you really cared.
Whenever I was down and blue
You were always there.
No matter my problems, are what was wrong
You were always there.
Whenever I felt like nothing matters
You were always there.
Now your gone, and I don’t know what to do
I close my eyes and think of you, and how
You were always there.
It’s hard to look at the pictures, and get memories of you
Can you hear me now
At night I pray, and I speak to you
I guess you were right when you told me no matter how far you were
You would always be there.
I know one day I’ll see you again, but till then I have to say goodbye
Even though it hurts to hear your name, and speak of you
One thing I will always say is
You were always there.
